Rev. Darrell Dennis, 83, Indianapolis, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday September 17, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Laston and Ruth Dennis; brother, Doug; sister, Marilyn; son, James Darrell.
His survivors include wife, Helen; children, David (Sheila) of Jackson, Georgia, Daniel (Teresa) of Chickamauga ,Georgia, Beth (Jerry) Smith of Indianapolis, Dwight of Mooresville; stepchildren, Roger and Shannon, both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jonathan, Cerra, Ferran, Stephanie, Nathan, Brandon, Sterling, Gabriel, Kristen, and Megan; several great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Darrell proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His life ministry was evangelism and being pastor of seven churches throughout the United States. Most recently, he was pastor of Sunshine Gardens Wesleyan Church of Indianapolis. He also served for a number of years at the Monrovia Church of the Nazarene.
Special Thanks to his brother Garnald Dennis and his sisters Sharlene Brown and Carolyn Williams who assisted as his caregivers during his final journey.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2016, in the chapel at
Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, with military honors presented by the United States Navy and the Mooresville Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Gardens Wesleyan Church, 3103 West Epler Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46217.
