Aleda Gayle Bloodworth Smith


76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2022. She was born September 4, 1946 in Ruston, Louisiana to the late William Monroe and Louise Bloodworth. Aleda graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, TX in 1965. She attended Texas Bible College and had a master’s degree in Education from the University of Texas at Tyler. Aleda was a teacher at Elkhart ISD and went on to work for Windham School District where she retired.


Aleda met her husband Steve at Texas Bible College and they were married August 19, 1967. They had two children Steve, Jr. and Sharla. She always felt that her greatest accomplishment in life was her two children. Her grandchildren brought her great joy as well. She loved spending time with her family more than anything else. Aleda was very friendly and had an outgoing personality that touched everyone she came in contact with.


She is survived by her husband; Stephen Smith, Sr. daughter; Sharla (Rick) Decker, daughter-in-law; Shannon Smith, granddaughters; Ryland & Kaitland Smith and Brittany Decker, grandsons; Joshua & Ricky Decker, great-grandchildren; Adilynn & Callum Ford, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Roger & Sally Smith, Richard & Patricia Wendt, DeLonda Bloodworth and Sherry Beckner; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Aleda is preceded in death by her son; Stephen “Steve” Smith, Jr. siblings; Glendale Pate, William “Bill” Bloodworth and Dexter Bloodworth, brother-in-law; Thomas E. Pate, Sr. and nephew; Thomas “Tom Ell” Pate.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00am at West Newton Cemetery (6701 Milton St., West Newton, Indiana).
