Alvin "Leroy" Dunkin, 79, of Mooresville, passed away August 17, 2019. He was born August 14, 1940, in Indianapolis, to the late Alvin E. and Thelma Lee (Lowther) Dunkin.
Leroy recently reunited with his wife Barbara. He and Barbara were the proud parents of four daughters, Sherri, Terri, Mary, and Sandy.
Leroy was a US veteran of the US Army and an Indianapolis police sergeant for 20 years. He was a successful entrepreneur over the years and started a number of new businesses. His hobby was wood working and building. Leroy loved the Lord and his large family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Dunkin.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherri (Gerald) Baker of Franklin, Ohio, Terri (Doug) Ridenour of Plainfield, Mary (Gilbert) Fenwick of Mooresville, and Sandy (Scott) Kahler of Thayer, Missouri; a brother, Norman Dunkin of Thayer, Missouri, a sister, Minnie McNabb of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jamie (Tod) Kuss, Sabrina Ratcliffe, Brent Wright, Leigha (Todd) Kilgard, Tabitha (John) Murphy, Amanda (Mike Johnson) Ridenour, Shaine Fenwick, Ethan Fenwick, Madeline Fenwick, Brandy Tackett, and Clay (Kayla) Smith; and 25 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2019, at Springhill Christian Center: 12150 N Rooker Rd, Mooresville, IN 46158. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., with burial at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood. While flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society; envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
