Amy “Met” Hillman, 92, Brooklyn, went to be with the Lord December 20, 2015. Mrs. Hillman was born November 13, 1923, in Clarksburg, Indiana, to the late William H. and Amy (Bemis) Lampe.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Country Chapel and was an active volunteer with the Clay Township Clothe-a-Child and the Brooklyn Christian Church Pantry. The ultimate matriarch of her large family, Mrs. Hillman enjoyed reading, knitting, watching old westerns, and was an accomplished gardener. She was quite social and always looked forward to visiting with her family and receiving company at home. She will be remembered fondly by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clevon “Tip” Hillman and one son, Phillip L. Hillman.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Cleve Hillman, Jr. (Sue) of Lakeland, Florida and Michael L. Hillman (Russette) of Martinsville; daughters, Micky J. Spradlin of Wilbur, Charlene Pugh (Otis) of Brooklyn, and April Riddle (Sherman) of Mooresville; one sister, Marie C. Bowman of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; more than 50 great grandchildren; a host of great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hillman from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with a funeral service beginning at 4 p.m. Cremation will follow the service and the inurnment will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery at a later date.
