Barbara Lee PaHud
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, the world was robbed of a loving, dedicated family member on January 26, 2021. Barabra Lee PaHud of Bargersville (Avon), 74 years of age, was called home to be with her husband (Mike) of 46 years, along with her mother (Florence Louise Bryant Tandy) and father (Lee Willis Tandy).
Dayton, Ohio is where Barbara called her birthplace. She joyfully and frequently told the story of how a blind date would lead to a whirlwind courtship and the beginning of a long and exciting journey with whom she would call her soul mate. Soon, they moved to Indiana to raise their family, daughter Susan (Mike) and son Michael (Holly), ending up in Monrovia, Indiana. Her family was always her pride and joy.
Barbara excelled at many different jobs, including National Cash Register Company (Dayton), Harmon Automotive (Mooresville), seamstress, and in-home childcare. Finishing her career at Sensient Flavors in 2012 where she proudly and frequently announced she was an “organoleptic taste tester”. A common theme to all her jobs was to “never be late” and always be “dedicated to the job”.
Barbara enjoyed rough camping (which included a microwave, air mattress, and half the house), boating with family and friends, sewing, cooking, yardwork, hosting movie nights, riding three-wheelers and dirt bikes, and floating in the pool for hours.
Without question, Barbara’s direction and focus was with her three greatest gifts, her grandchildren. Megan (Seth Berger), Amanda (Nick Berger), and Andrew. Barbara, who never claimed to be a sports fan, made countless journeys to events only to rout for her grandbabies. Yelling loud and proud she often would get her sports confused, yelling “put it in the hoopie” at a football game or “knock em’ down” at a volleyball match. Her cheers and early arrival became a staple.
Additional survivors include her newest members which she was so excited about, great grandchildren Amelia Josephine (1 year) and August (due in April), brother Gary Tandy (Celia) of Missouri , Wanda Long (Bob) of Delaware and Gayle Tandy of Delaware, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her extended family is large and was always dear to her.
Due to Covid and the family’s wishes for all to remain safe, services for Barbara will be private for immediate family taking place on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
Only God could give us such a beautiful, one-of-a-kind gift as Barbara and we pray and know she rests comfortably in his healing hands.
