Benjiman Marshel Raney

July 24, 1938 — September 25, 2015

Benjiman Marshel Raney, 77 of Mooresville, passed away in the early morning hours on September 25, 2015 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. He was born July 24, 1938 in Public, Kentucky to the late Oather and Sarah (Bullock) Raney.

Benjiman worked as a tool and die maker for Navistar for nearly 30 years; he retired in 1996 as a production supervisor. He proudly served for several years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of Bridgeport Central Baptist Church. Benjiman was an avid golfer and gardener; after his retirement, he enjoyed genealogy, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, to whom he was united in marriage on April 2, 1960, Helen Laureen (Mayfield) Raney of Mooresville; two sons, Benjamin Scott (Wife: Robin) Raney of Mooresville and Kevin Dwayne (Wife: Sharon) Raney of Martinsville; daughter, Stephanie Lynn (Shawn) Eldridge of Indianapolis; brother, Cressel Raney of Eubank, KY; sister, Yvonne Shrum of Jamestown, TN; six grandchildren, Tyler Raney, Grace Raney, Olivia Raney, Emma Eldridge, Hannah Raney and Luke Eldridge and three great grandchildren, Adyson Cranfill, Dexter Raney and David Raney. Along with his parents, Benjiman was preceded in death by two brothers, Noel and James Raney, and five sisters, Annis Wethington, Willene Woodall, Carole Yadon, Bernice Raney and Goldia Raney.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday, September 27 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday with calling from Noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport Central Baptist Church General Fund, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
