Bertha Montgomery

Bertha Montgomery, 84, Mooresville, died August 17, 2011, in the Emergency Room at St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mrs. Montgomery was born January 13, 1927, in Greene County, Indiana, to the late Harmon and Maymie (Neff) Canada.

Mrs. Montgomery was an Avon salesperson from 1969 through the 1990’s. She was a member of the Brooklyn Christian Church and loved to play Scrabble with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Montgomery, Sr., who died in 1968; sons, Robert A. Montgomery, Jr., Mark E. Montgomery, and Ronald L. Montgomery; brothers, Warren, Leonard, Jack, and Roy Canaday; sister, Ona Powell.

Survivors include her children, Linda Moore of California, Barbara Waggoner of Florida, Garry Montgomery of Mooresville, James Montgomery of Martinsville, Marla Snyder of Mooresville, and Tom Montgomery of Mooresville; sisters, Helen Spinks of Linton and Ruby Fish of Linton;
15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2011. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
