Indianapolis, Indiana – Betty Jean Record, of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away on November 20th, 2022. Born on March 3, 1932, to Farley Ray and Bernice (Crosby) Modlin in Greensburg, Indiana. She was 90 years old.
Betty graduated from Mooresville High School in 1949 and shortly after married the love of her life, Calvin Paul Record. They remained together until his passing in 1993.
Betty worked at Public Service Indiana for over 30 years as Head of Insurance. During this time, she and Calvin also raised their son Russ, owned and operated a produce farm that sold to multiple local grocery stores, and still found time to receive her associate degree from Indiana Business School.
Staying busy even when she wasn’t working, Betty also traveled across the country for multiple square-dancing conventions and competitions with Calvin. Their vacations would consist of fishing in both Canada and Minnesota. Their love of nature and the outdoors was a lifelong passion even into retirement.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Farley Ray Adelbert Modlin and Bernice (Crosby) Modlin; husband Calvin Paul Record; sister Fleta Modlin; and brother Audrey Ray Modlin.
She is survived by her son Russel Ray Record (Susan); grandchild Travis Record (Rebecca) and great-grandchildren Calvin and Liam Record.
Friends and family will gather for visitation on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Carlisle Branson Funeral Services, 39 East High Street, Mooresville Indiana, from 11 am to 12 pm. Funeral services will follow at 12 pm. The committal service will take place at White Lick Cemetery.
