Betty R. Franklin, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a six-decade resident of Mooresville, died Sunday, June 23, at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital. Betty, a native of Midland, Ind, was 90.
She owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Salon in Mooresville for more than half a century, working into her 80s.
She was the most senior member of the First Christian Church in Mooresville, where she was an active member of the Pebbles Sunday School class. She was a long-time member of the Mooresville chapter of Eastern Star.
Betty was a loving, giving, and accepting woman who was adored by everyone for her compassion and eternal optimism. She loved spending time with family, cooking, sharing stories and laughing. She was a role model for her family.
She is survived by two sons, Steve (Pat) of Camby, and Tim (Alison), of the Washington, D.C. area; six grandchildren, Craig (Tammy) and Adam (Angie) of Lafayette, Christopher (Kelly) of Plainfield, Amy Gaton (Mike) of Wannamaker, and Andrew and Abby of the Washington area; a stepson, Phil (Lorraine) of Libertyville, Ill.; a sister, Beverly (Jerry) of Kimberly, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Franklin of Bloomington and Gerry Wallace of Greeneville, Tenn.; nine great grandchildren; 10 nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, and son, Vic.
Friends and family will gather Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., in the First Christian Church, 525 N. Indiana St., Mooresville. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Mooresville Christian Church.
