Bobbie Jean Hinson died on 27 May 2015 in Mooresville, Indiana. He was born 25 June 1922 in Monrovia, Indiana to Martin T. Hinson and Florence (Latta) Hinson and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patricia I. (Schrader) Hinson; a son Steve Hinson (Venie), two grandchildren Angela Kite and Donna Hinson, 6 great grand children and 1 great great grand child.
Bobbie attended Monrovia Schools, graduated in 1940, and played on the 1938 Tri-County Champion basketball team. In November 1942 he entered the army and served in the 102d “Ozark” Infantry Divison fighting in the Central Europe Theater of Operation and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and crossing of the Ruhr River and was discharged in February 1946 with the rank of First Sargent.
He worked at J.D. Adams (before and after military service) for 10 years, Marmon-Harington for eleven years and Bryant Heating, Division of Carrier Corp. for 18 years. He resided in Indianapolis, Southport, and Greenwood and in 1953 moved to Gasburg where he lived until his death. In earlier years he coached Little League Baseball and Basketball, Pony League Baseball was an assistant Boy Scout Leader, President of the Monrovia Alumni Association, Past Master of Monrovia Masonic Lodge No. 654 and an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent at the Monrovia Christian Church. He recently became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
