Bruce L. Hutchings

Bruce L. Hutchings, known by his friends and students as “Hutch”, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020. Bruce was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, teacher, and mentor.
He was a graduate of Purdue University, and he earned his master’s degree from Indiana University. Bruce was an educator in the Town of Speedway School District for 41 years, serving as a teacher, administrator, and coach. He actively volunteered and was a member of numerous organizations. Most recently, he served as the Head Trustee at Mooresville First United Methodist Church.
Bruce loved his family, his country, and God. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and serving his church. He will always be known as a humble, selfless man who gave more in life than he received. His family will miss him greatly.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his four children Erin, Martin, James (Kelli), and Kimberly as well as 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A Celebration of Bruce’s life will occur at a later date. The family requests donations in memory of Bruce be given to Mooresville First United Methodist Church or donor’s favorite charity.
