Byron Emery Green, 86, Mooresville, passed away April 18, 2015, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Mr. Green was born October 31, 1928, in Indianapolis, to the late Teddy Aaron and Bessie O. (Boles) Green.
He graduated from Monrovia High School in 1947 and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He founded Greendell Farms in 1969 with his wife, Evelyn (Francis) Green. It remained in the family, with the second generation of ownership when his daughter, Celesta, became owner in 1992. He also served on board of directors for Endeavor Communications for several years. Byron was a proud member of the National Federation of Independent Business. Always community minded and active in many civic affairs, he worked with the West Central Solid Waste District and was on the Farm Credit Advisory Board. Mr. Green was a faithful member of the Mooresville First Baptist Church. Previously, he was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church and Plainfield Christian Church. He was past president of Indiana Sheep Breeders and was also active with the Indianapolis Landscape Association. Mr. Green was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed gardening. They also enjoyed traveling and had recently enjoyed spending winter months in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Green.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Evelyn (Francis) Green, to whom he was united in marriage October 17, 1954; children, Celesta Hofmann (Bruce) and Aaron Green (Laura); grandchildren, Lucas Hofmann, Andrea Hodges; great grandchildren, Tyler Hofmann, Emery Hodges, Addilyn Hodges; step-granddaughter, Tamela Swearingin; step-great grandsons, Robert and James Swearingin.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, April 24, 2015, 4 to 7 p.m., in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church, 680 N. Indiana Street, Mooresville. Pastor Guy Lancour will officiate the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, April 25, 2015, in the church. Private entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
