Carrie O. Martin MacMillan 85 of Mooresville, died October 28, 2011, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Carrie was born in Brazil, Indiana, in 1926, to the late Carl and Florence (Williamson) Overpeck.
Carrie started school in Indianapolis but was a graduate from Mooresville High School in 1944 and spent almost her entire life as part of that community where her roots grew deep. She was a faithful member of Bethel Friends Meeting through all those years and joined the Mooresville Order of the Eastern Star. She spent her more than 40 years of employment at L.S. Ayres downtown department store where she retired from the payroll department in 1992. This career allowed her to best use her two superior talents; that being working with numbers and shopping. Her life was full as were her hands since she also raised a family during those years never missing a ball game, performance or activity they were part of. Her joys in life were family, sports, euchre, shopping, and going to the boat to gamble, not necessarily in that order.
Carrie’s shared 37 years with her first husband Carl Martin until he passed away in 1987. She then married Ronald MacMillan later in life enjoying 10 years together before he died in 2005. Carrie was preceded in death by all her siblings: brothers, John Melvin, Max Ernest and Carl Fredrick (Jimmy) Overpeck and her sister, Mary Louise Drake Arnot.
Carrie is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son, Jim Martin (Dena) of West Chester, Pennsylvania; daughter, Sharon Martin Hunter (Brad) of Petersburg, Alaska; grandchildren, Justin Martin (Erin) and Lauren Martin; Margaret Hunter and Hillary Hunter.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren Justin, Lauren, Margaret and Hillary, her son-in-law Brad and her nephew Bob Drake.
