Cecil M. Moore, 87, longtime Mooresville resident, passed away September 3, 2021, at the Indiana Masonic Home. Cecil was born November 5, 1933, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Ita (Mitchell) Moore.
He graduated from high school in Mann, West Virginia and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, becoming a POW. He played football in high school and even took up boxing, earning lightweight championships. After settling in Mooresville, Cecil worked as an inspector for more than 33 years for the Ford Motor Company. He was also the owner and operator of Morz Plumbing in Mooresville for many years. Cecil was very active with the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, serving as past Master, the Knights of Pythias, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Scottish Rite. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan, was a member of the VFW Post 1111 and the American Legion Post 103. He also loved to travel. A spiritual man, Cecil was a devoted member of Eternal Life Baptist Church and led singing there for many years. Cecil will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Suter) Moore, to whom he was united in marriage October 10, 1960; children, Richard (Debbie) Moore of Brooklyn, Dean Moore of Plainfield, Barbara Hartley of Mooresville, and Sandra (Edward) Pitcock of Alabama; brother, William S. (Caroline) Moore of Florida; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Cecil’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with a Masonic Memorial at 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021, in the Eternal Life Baptist Church.
