Charles E. Keefer, 86 of Plainfield, passed away February 29, 2016 at Plainfield Healthcare. He was born October 1, 1929 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence and Elsie (Dean) Keefer. On December 17, 1955 Chuck was united in marriage to his loving wife, Janice A. (Paull) Keefer; she survives.
Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, discharged in 1952. He continued to serve his country as an FBI agent for 29 years retiring as a resident supervisor. Chuck was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield. In his spare time, he had many hobbies including; sailing, fishing, wood carving, traveling, spending time in Traverse City, Michigan and walking his yorkies, Sassie and Brink. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Chuck was happiest when visiting his grandchildren.
Other survivors include his two daughters, Linda J. Keefer of Richmond, IN and Kelly J. (Drew) Smith of Wabash, IN; his sister, Doris (Keith) Beckman of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Mark Keefer-D’Amico and Katherine Smith; one great granddaughter, Shadoe Smith and five nephews. His brother, David Keefer also preceded him in death.
Family and friends will celebrate the life of Charles Keefer on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield at 10:30 a.m. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church; envelopes will be provided at the church.
