Charles E. Maddox, 80, Camby, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, August 10, 2011. Mr. Maddox was born April 5, 1931, in Indianapolis.
Mr. Maddox was the owner of C&D Market in Madison Township for many years, working along side his wife, Dorothea. They sold the store in 1975. He then worked for Service Supply Company for 20 years. Mr. Maddox was an avid golfer, once hitting a hole-in-one. He also enjoyed flying, owing a Cessna and later a Beechcraft. He was extremely devoted to the Bible and studied it every night.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys (Edens) Galbraith; father, Claude Maddox; step-father, Charles Galbraith; son, Timothy Joe Maddox; daughter, Linda Darlene Bennett; brothers, Claude Maddox and Earl Francis Maddox.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea (Barnett) Maddox, to whom he was united in marriage September 6, 1947; children, Gary Lee Maddox of Bradenton, Florida, Charles C. Maddox of Mooresville, Deborah Lynn Maddox of Brooklyn, Thomas Dee Maddox of Camby, and Dean Edward Maddox of Sarasota, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
