Charles Eugene St. John, 80, Martinsville, died March 14, 2013, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. St. John was born May 9, 1932, in Morgan County, to the late Vern and Mary Alice (Waltz) St. John.
He graduated from Mooresville High School. Mr. St. John spent many years working as a truck driver, working for Associate Trasport for 20 years and Yellow Freight for 23 years, retiring in 1997. Always involved in his community, Mr. St. John was instrumental in the founding of the Eminence Little League. He was a member of the Eminence Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish, Rite, York Rite, and the Murat Shrine. He was also a member of the Golden Spur Saddle Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Martinsville VFW #1257. Mr. St. John enjoyed NASCAR racing, farming, and IU Basketball. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
Mr. St. John was preceded in death by his wife, Lula (Fox) St. John; grandson, Fred Nicholas Haas; and his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Dennis St. John (Margie) of Mooresville, Mike St. John (Rhonda) of Quincy; daughter, Mary Ann Griesemer (Larry) of Stilesville; 15 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eminence Little League.
