Charles R. Dickens, 78, Waverly, passed away October 6, 2021. Mr. Dickens was born November 27, 1942, in Bloomington, to the late Richard and Una Dickens. He married Carol (Hoffeditz) on February 12, 1966, and she survives.
Charlie graduated from Smithville High School and served in the Indiana National Guard. HE was employed at Federal Mogul for more than 20 years. Charlie was a longtime and faithful member of the Waverly Baptist Church and had been the pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Greenwood. Charlie also served as youth pastor at various churches in earlier years. He also attended Indiana Bible College and enjoyed studying his Bible all his life. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and will be remembered for his kindness and gentle strength.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Dickens and a sister, Jackie Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carol (Hoffeditz) Dickens; daughters, Lori (Jeff) Davis and Julie (Duke) Brindley; grandchildren, Brooke Wehr and Duke Brindley; great grandchild, Storie Brindley.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon.
