Clarence Edward Laurence

Clarence Edward Laurence, 93, of Beech Grove, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville.  He was born in Jasper, Alabama on November 12, 1929 to the late Clyde Laurence and Minnie (Cordes) Laurence.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in Alabama.  He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in1953.  He earned a certificate for electrical technology from Purdue in 1955.  He worked for Scherer Electric as a machinist until his retirement in 1991.  Clarence married the love of his life, Marjorie Myrtle Seay, on November 16, 1956.  She preceded him in death on May 28, 2008. 

He greatly enjoyed gardening and consistently planted a garden every year.  A generous man, he always shared all his harvest from the garden.  He also spent lots of time in his woodworking shop in his garage.

Clarence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends including his daughter, Amy (husband, Mike) Wood of Mooresville; brother, Allison Laurence of Indianapolis; grandchild, Amanda (husband, Ellery Bryan) Mishler of Mooresville; and great grandchildren, Luke Mishler, Beau Mishler, Marjorie Compton, and Amy Compton.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Minne and Clyde; wife, Marjorie Laurence; grandchildren, Mellissa (5/24/2012) and Steve Compton (01/18/2012); and great grandson, Robert Compton (11/2/2011).

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory.  Clarence’s Life Celebration® service will follow beginning at 4:00 pm in the chapel.  Following the service, Clarence’s earthly remains will be cremated and then entombed at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
