Clarice Kimmel

Mooresville, IN – Clarice Kimmel, 89, passed away on July 31st, 2022. A long-time resident of Mooresville, Clarice was born on April 16th, 1933 to the late Jesse and Celia Staples in Cleaton, Kentucky, one of ten children.

Clarice married Hershel Kimmel on January 31st, 1953. Ever a cook and a homemaker, they raised four children together until his passing on May 20th, 1984. After his passing, she doubled down on her love language of food, making sure no one who entered her home left hungry. Chili, fried chicken and banana pudding were her three specialties and would be available at any party or get together she hosted.

Clarice always knew how to have fun, with a weakness for off-color jokes and daytime TV. Her gardens were always a thing of beauty while she cared for them. Clarice was a vivacious spirit that will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Hershel Kimmel; parents Jesse and Celia Staples; sons Tim Kimmel and Richard “Steve” Kimmel; brothers Rufus Staples, James Staples, Elvis Staples, Marvin Staples; sisters Christine Hersey, Pauline Speaks, Lois Staples, and Joyce Sears.

She is survived by her daughters Myra Lighter and Nancy Foisy (James); grandchildren Jessica Mosier (Chris) , Rachel Stephenson (Jonathan), Jason Sears, Lindsay Kimmel (Brian), and Ryan Kimmel (Emily); and great-grandchildren Charlotte Stephenson and Reagan Stephenson.

Family will gather to receive visitors from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, August 4st, 2022 at Carlisle Branson Funeral service. Services will follow at noon with Paster Ted Stephenson presiding. Interment will take place at White Lick Cemetery following the service.
