Claude Allen Spears, 82, Mooresville, died May 11, 2013, in Manor Care South. Mr. Spears was born June 18, 1930, in Monroe County, Kentucky, to the late Frank and Ree (Dyer) Spears.
He graduated from high school in Tompkinsville, Kentucky and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Spears was the recipient of a Purple Heart and two BronzeStars. He was a member of the Mooresville American Legion Post 103 and the Mooresville VFW Post 1111. In addition, Mr. Spears was a member of the Waverly Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine. He worked as a truck driver through the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma (Sprowls) Spears; children, Jeff, Phillip, and Donna Spears; brothers, Arlie, Esco, Estes, and Wallace Spears.
Survivors include his children, David Spears of Camby, Mark Spears of Brooklyn, and Allen Spears of Mooresville; brothers, Jack Spears of Avon, Clifford Spears of Hestand, Kentucky; sister, Ruby Edwards of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; a host of grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 1 p.m. Cremation will follow the service at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
