Cleda Starns Carlile, 91, Mooresville, passed away July 1, 2018. Born August 13, 1926, in Estill County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Hubert C. and Ida (Clem) Barnes.
Cleda graduated from Clark County High School in Kentucky. She married Pastor Earl Starns in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1996. The consummate pastor’s wife, she was a devoted member of the Brooklyn Church of God for many years and also served at the Mooresville Church of God. Always active in the church, she also enjoyed church camp on a yearly basis. Cleda was also fond of quilting and crocheting. Cleda drove a school bus for Mooresville Consolidated Schools for more than 30 years and was greatly respected by her student riders. Above all, she was strongly devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered for her delightful sense of humor.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Norman Carlile; brother, Tracy Barnes; sister, Erna Rose; step-daughter, Wanda.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Teri) Starns of Spencer; daughters, Illa (Gary) Schrougham of Mooresville and Vanessa (Mike) True of Mooresville; brother, Ivan Barnes; step-children, Norman (Vicki) Carlile, Jr., Donna Dellacca, Sherry Gray, and Loretta Cunningham; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, July 6, 2018, 4 to 8 p.m., in Town Center Church (formerly Mooresville Church of God), 218 E. Main St., Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
