Clyda E. Thompson, 95, of Plainfield, passed away February 4, 2017 at Brownsburg Health Care. The daughter of Ruben and Lida (Jacobs) Reddick, she was born in Arkansas on September 7, 1921; her parents preceded her in death. On June 10, 1951 Clyda was united in marriage to her loving husband Donald Thompson and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2009.
Clyda worked as a receptionist at General Motors for several years and was a key punch operator at the Indiana Statehouse for a number of years. A loving mother and homemaker, she supported her daughter as a Brownie Leader for several years. Clyda enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was a member of the Church of Christ for many years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Otis Finn, Pauline Whitford, Earl “Red” Reddick, and Carl Reddick.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan L. (Joe) Stevens of Brownsburg; two grandchildren, Regan Huff and Ryan Davis; three great grandsons, Parker, Preston, and Knox; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Clyda E. Thompson from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Clyda will be laid to rest by her husband, Donald at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Waverly, Indiana.
