Curtis Lewis Atwood, age 71, of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. Born April 30, 1944, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Francis (Lynn) Atwood. His brother, Harold Atwood and sister, Hazel Meyer also preceded him in death.
Curtis was a cook in CO B 2nd BN(M) 152D Infantry Army National Guard from 1965-1970. He retired from Kroger Company in 2001 after 34 years as a Produce Clerk. He owned Atwood’s Produce in Mooresville for 15 years and was a member of the Mooresville Church of God. He loved to read and he loved sports, especially IU basketball, Bob Knight, the Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Judy (Alford) Atwood, whom he married on February 3, 1968; his daughters, Jina (Ron “Sox”) Norris, Paula (Troy) McCarthy; his brothers, Eugene (Shirley) Atwood of Whitewater, KS; Herman (Linda) Atwood of Hall, IN; his granddaughter, MacKenzie McCarthy; his step grandchildren, Shane (Lisa) Norris, Morgan (Brian) Madsen, Branden McCarthy, Joshua McCarthy, Eli & Zoey Madsen, Zaidyn Ledcke; his sister-in-laws, Nancy (Roger) Scaggs, Kay (Bill) Angel, Faye Alford and Judy (Mynatt) Atwood; his brother-in-laws, Al (Eileen) Alford and Tony (Sue) Alford; along with numerous nieces & nephews, and great nieces & nephews.
Friends may call Monday, May 11, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with private burial to take place in White Lick Cemetery. You may visit CarlisleBranson.com where you may share a memory with the family or sign the online guest book.
