Dale Davee, 95, lifelong Morgan County resident, died June 23, 2014, in Methodist Hospital. Mr. Davee was born July 16, 1918, in Morgan County, to the late Roy and Sadie (Smith) Davee.
Dale was a farmer for years in Morgan County, having farmed in Mahalasville with his father Roy until 1936. In 1937, the family moved to the northern part of the county and began farming in Madison Township and to Mann Road in 1959. He served as a Morgan County Commissioner and as a County Councilman also. He and his wife Ruby were very faithful and devoted members of the Church at Mt. Gilead.
Dale was a very generous and giving man. He and Ruby were involved with Gleaners Food Bank and also fed many people out of their own pantry on Mann Road. Having a strong faith, he took joy in visiting those who could not make it to church to offer communion. Dale’s incredible spirit will live on through his loving family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Maurice, Johnnie, Lowell “Ted”, and Floyd.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Ruby (Kinnett) Davee, to whom he was united in marriage June 21, 1939; children, Roger Davee (Wanda) of Mooresville and Mary Ann Trout (Jack Stohlman) of Franklin; brother, William Davee; sisters, Mary Trobaugh of Texas and Martha Roska of Washington; grandchildren, Misty Wright (Pastor Mark) and Michael Davee; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, June 26, 2014, 2 to 6 p.m., in the Church at Mt. Gilead, 6019 East State Road 144, Mooresville. The service will follow at 6 p.m. Pastors Terry Crist and Mark Wright will officiate. Private entombment will be on Friday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Churches in Mission, 27 South Indiana St., Mooresville, IN 46158.
