Dane Lee Wheeler

Dane Lee Wheeler, 48, of Nashville, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Indiana University Methodist Hospital after a lengthy cancer battle. He was born in Indianapolis at Methodist Hospital on May 3, 1976 to Teresa Lynne (Rosemeyer) Bayse and the late Michael William Bayse.

He graduated from Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis with the class of 1994. He then furthered his education at Ball State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He was a proud union electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). 

Kindhearted, generous, and known as the “Gentle Giant”, Dane was genuinely a special soul who had a way of making friends, family, and strangers feel valued and seen. He was an avid sports lover and animal lover. He especially enjoyed football and played football for the Ball State Cardinals from 1995-1999. Additionally, he was a proud Indianapolis Colts fan and a season ticket holder. 

Dane will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his friends and family including his mother, Teresa Bayse of Nashville; companion, April Denny of Indianapolis; brother, Jim (wife, Tara) Bayse of Speedway; aunts, Sandra Holmes of Nashville, Debra Rosemeyer of Greenwood, Donna Padrick of Indianapolis, and Madalyn Bayse of Plainfield; and cousins, Kristy Slate, Mandi Clossey, and Brandon Slate. 

He was proceeded in death by his father, Michael Bayse and grandparents, Bruce and June Rosemeyer. 

Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life service at the Brown County State Park in the spring. The time and date of the service are pending at this time. 

In keeping with Dane’s wishes, his earthly remains have been cremated. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
