Danny Dale Thurston

Mr. Danny Dale Thurston, age 82 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on November 10, 1940 in Shelbyville, Indiana. He was the loving son of Dale "Tack" and Frances "Barney" McComas Thurston. He was raised in Shelbyville and was a 1959 graduate of Shelbyville High School. Dan then attended Ball State University and received his bachelors degree in education in 1963. He then went on and received his masters degree from Indiana University. On August 8, 1964, Dan was united in marriage to Judith Dianne Wagner in Shelbyville, Indiana. This happy union of 58 years was blessed with one son, Danny Dale, Jr. Dan and Judy moved to Mooresville in 1966 and he began his career with Mooresville Consolidated Schools. He was a social studies teacher and later taught ISS and retired after many years. While at Mooresville Consolidated Schools, he was a golf coach, assistant basketball coach, and drivers education instructor. After retirement, Dan drove for Perry Acoustics for many years as a courier. In 2015, Dan and Judy moved to Madison to be closer to their son. In Madison, Dan drove for various car dealerships as a deliverer. Dan enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and is a member of the ASA Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. He especially enjoyed Notre Dame football, Indiana University basketball, Green Bay Packers, and Cincinnati Reds baseball. Dan also enjoyed supporting the Southwestern Rebels baseball program, where his son coaches. Most of all, Dan loved his family and was a devoted husband, dad, and pa to his grandchildren. Danny died on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 9:27 a.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY 
Danny will be missed by his loving  son, Danny Dale Thurston, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Madison, Indiana; his grandsons, Danny Dale "Trey" Thurston III and his wife Pam of Harraget, Tennessee, and Patrick "Ryan" Thurston and his fiance Addison Nolan of McCordsville, Indiana; his granddaughter, Trisha Dianne Thurston and her companion Zander Steele of Charleston, South Carolina; his sister in law, Janet Dostal of Longmont, Colorado; his brother in law, Rick Tingle of Beech Grove, Indiana;  his special nephew, Ron Dostal of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale "Tack" Thurston, his mother, Frances "Barney" McComas Thurston, his wife of 58 years, Judith “Judy” Dianne Wagner Thurston, died September 17, 2022, and his sister, Kay Tingle, died February 4, 2023.
