Darrel “Max” Holtzclaw, 86, Mooresville, died June 14, 2012, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born February 22, 1926, in Emma Township, Illinois, to the late Martin and Mildred Arlene (Tower) Holtzclaw.
Max was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who served during WWII. He worked for McLean Trucking Company for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Holtzclaw also was a bus driver for the Mooresville School Corporation for 15 years and recently worked for D.W Holtzclaw Mechanical for 9 years. He was a proud member of the Mooresville American Legion and an Elder at Grace Missionary Church, Camby. He also enjoyed running the Sonshine Softball Park.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Holtzclaw, Nora Grace, Betty Ann, Wanda Joyce Randolph, Verla Ruth Davis, Lloyd Holtzclaw.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Ann (Goodman) Holtzclaw of Mooresville, to whom he was united in marriage on July 3, 1947; sons, Darrel Max Holtzclaw, Jr. (Joleen) of Mooresville, William Martin Holtzclaw (Vickie) of Mooresville, David Wayne Holtzclaw (Malyssa) of Mooresville; daughter, Barbara Ann Hartsell (Matt) of Bluffton; brothers, Melvin Roy Holtzclaw of Maunie, IL, Andrew Jefferson Holtzclaw of Maunie, IL; sisters, Margaret A. Stover of North City, IL, Martha Glore of Indianapolis, Patsy June Hamann of Pasco, Washington; grandchildren, Diane Holtzclaw, Chad Holtzclaw (Crystal), Chelsey Holtzclaw, Codee Holtzclaw, Marcus Holtzclaw, Beth Holtzclaw, Natalie (Sam) Abdemalek, Casey Holtzclaw, Deana Holtzclaw, Tricia Dailey (Lawrence), Joshua Hartsell, Joel Hartsell, Tiffani Hartsell, Allyson Hartsell, Dawn (Josh) Enebrad, Dwayne Holtzclaw; great grandchildren, Douglas Heath (Brittany), Tyler Heath, Jordyn Heath, Kadin Abdemalek, Layla Abdemalek, Jadin Abdemalek, Aiden Holtzclaw, Ashton Holtzclaw, McKinsey Holtzclaw, Ava Holtzclaw, Darci Kelley, Derek Kelley, Kylee Ridenour, Aaliyah Enebrad, Milayna Enebrad, Joshua Enebrad; great great grandchildren, Haven Heath, Douglas Heath Jr., Christan Heath, Jayliana Phillips, Jayden Phillips.
The funeral service will be held at 10a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in the Grace Missionary Church, 4172 Allison Road, Camby. Visitation will be at church from 2 to 8pm, Monday, June 18, 2012. Pastor Jim Taylor will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
