Darrell Ritter, 69, Plainfield, died on his favorite holiday, October 31, 2012. Through several years of struggling with heart disease and diabetes, Darrell continued to bring happiness and many smiles to those he encountered. Mr. Ritter was born in Ohio on October 9, 1943, to the late Glenn and Rita (Fox) Ritter.
He proudly served in the United States Navy and later worked for Chrysler for 40 years, retiring in 2005. Darrell was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He loved Halloween and enjoyed decorating with various festive creations for his favorite holiday. Darrell was also known for his famous chocolate chip cookies that he enjoyed delivering around town.
Survivors include his wife, Rita, to whom he was united in marriage August 8, 1981; son, Sean Ritter of California; stepchildren, Kenneth Robinson of Mooresville, Jeff Robinson of Center Grove, Daniel Robinson of Waverly, and Melinda Prather of Mooresville; brothers, Tex, Jim, and John Ritter; twin sister, Diana Kelbley; sisters, Joyce Frankart, Sue Spencer, Janice Lombardi, and Norma Rantz; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.
In keeping with Darrell's generous spirit, he was an organ donor at the time of his death. According to Darrell’s wishes, visitation and services will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Churches in Mission, 27 South Indiana Street, Mooresville, IN 46158.
