David Boyer Siemantel, 81, Martinsville, passed away peacefully at home August 28, 2019. David was born March 1, 1938, in Carmel, Indiana, to the late Harry T. and Helen (Boyer) Siemantel.
Dave graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1956 and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. He worked for Mitchell & Scott for 26 years prior to being the owner and operator of Shirley Machine & Engineering for 15 years. He was also proud to have served in the Peace Corps in Swaziland for 2 ½ years. David was a member of Fairfield Friends Meeting and the Machine Products Association. An accomplished blacksmith, he was also a member of the Indiana Blacksmith Association and the Rural Smiths of Indiana. A natural problem solver, David enjoyed the challenge and the satisfaction realized when helping others create solutions. He will be fondly remembered for his loving, joyful, and generous character.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Dasenbrock) Siemantel, to whom he was united in marriage July 1, 1989; children, Matthew (Stacey) Siemantel of Florida, Trey Siemantel of California, Themba (Kerri Klein) Fletcher of California, Thabo (Jennifer) Fletcher of California, and Holly Davis of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Emmett Eugene Fletcher, Calliope Frances Fletcher, Ariadne Aurora Fletcher, Samuel Elliott Fletcher, Tanner Siemantel, Kayla Siemantel, and Kodey Davis.
David will be laid to rest following a private graveside service on Friday in Fairfield Cemetery, Camby. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday, September 21, 2019, 11 a.m., at Fairfield Friends Meeting, 10441 E. County Rd 700 S, Camby, IN 46113. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Friends Service Committee, AFSC Development, 1501 Cherry St. Philadelphia, PA 19102, designated to the "Border Crisis".
