David Lee Hastings, 91, was born on July 7, 1933 and passed on September 9, 2024. David is survived by wife Gloria, Sons: Jeffrey (Rachel), Douglas (Susan), Anthony (Carol); Grandchildren Courtney Summers (Brandon), Benjamin, Evan, and Ian Hastings.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Hannah Hastings.
David grew up in Wanamaker and Acton, IN and graduated from Franklin Central High School. He played high school baseball and basketball. Dave played independent baseball for several years for Wilhelm. He was assistant manager for United Co-op/Farm Bureau and relocated to New Jersey and Kenton, Ohio for the company. Then he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was in Hanau, Germany. Upon his return, he became a member of the Acton Mason Lodge.
He joined Balkamp, Inc as a supervisor in the Order packaging dept, with promotions to sales representative, the first National Merchandising Manager, and National sales manager, retiring in 1996. Dave was nationally known for his entertaining presentations and demonstrations all over the continental US and Mexico for the NAPA Parts System. He worked part-time from 1996-2019 to occupy his time and enjoy the company of the public. Dave was an avid golfer and enjoyed competition with his sons and friends. He coached elementary baseball and basketball, and refereed middle school and high school basketball for many years. He enjoyed community events, socializing and outdoor activities.
A private Celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2025.
