Delmos “Del” Bishop, 78, of Mooresville passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born on September 6, 1935 in Oneada, Kentucky to the late Jess and Flora Bishop.
Although born in Kentucky, at the age of 9 his family moved to Indianapolis and lived just south of where the Lucas Oil Stadium currently stands. He married the love of his life, Idonna Trusty on September 9, 1955, raised two children and moved to Mooresville. Del provided for his family by working as Teamster truck driver for 30 years. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling the country with his wife on their motor home, boating at several local lakes, and spending time working on household projects. He gained the most enjoyment by spending time with his loving wife, children, and his faithful companion, Bud the golden retriever.
He is survived by his wife, Idonna Bishop; his two children, Anita J. Hiles ( Bob) of Indianapolis and Ira J. Bishop ( Teresa G.) of Mooresville; his three siblings, Homer Bishop ( Etta) of Mooresville, Lucy Barger of Franklin, and Betty Carpenter ( Carl) of Mooresville. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great – grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service& Crematory with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society.
