Don Allen, 82, long time Mooresville resident passed away January 5, 2017, in IU West Hospital. Don was born April 11, 1934, in Indianapolis, to the late Samuel Hayden and Blanch Marie (Andrews) Allen.
He graduate from Southport High School and proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves for many years. A barber for more than 60 years, Don had been the owner and operator of Allen & Son Barbershop since 1955. He was a 50+ year member of the Mooresville First Christian Church, the Mooresville Lions Club, Mooresville Eagles, and the Mooresville American Legion Post 103. Don loved to travel, especially in his motorhome with his late wife, Wanda. He also enjoyed golfing and could often be found on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance competitions. Don’s memory will be cherished by his loving family, many friends, and loyal customers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Faye Allen and a brother, Paul A. Allen.
Survivors include four sons, Robert S. Allen (Jan) of Virginia, Randall L. Allen (Jill) of Mooresville, Russell A. Allen (Debbie) of Hampton, Virginia, and David M. Allen (Sara) of Mooresville; sister, Joan Junken of Center Grove; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Don Allen on Monday, January 9, 2017, 3 to 8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Burial will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
