Don “Donnie” Covalt, 80, of Mooresville, passed away March 13, 2021 at home. Don was born April 5, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Ned and Josephine (Schaffer) Covalt. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Jackye Cornelius on April 1, 1990.
Don worked 65 years as a floor specialist. He was in the Carpenters Union for many years. Jackye and Don were members of Mt Gilead Church since 2005. He was a Mason for many years at the West Newton Lodge. Don volunteered at Decatur Township as a firefighter. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, boating, and yardwork. Don is well known as a hard worker and could run circles around the younger generation installing floors. He is going to be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, David Covalt, Delbert Wolfe, and Joan Hubbard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Jackye; daughter, Connie (Greg) Ilich; stepchildren, Kevin Cornelius and Dawn (Steve) Taylor; siblings, Jimmy (Doris) Covalt and Mary (Dave) Little; grandchildren, Traci (Dylan) Staley, Trenton (Fiancé Maryanne Smith), Cole (Fiancé Darian Busch) Taylor, Brianna Ilich, Clay Taylor; great grandchild, Colton Staley; and best friend Kenny Nunn.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Don Covalt Tuesday, March 16, 2021, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Jeff Faull will officiate and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville, Indiana.
