Donald A. Johnson, Sr., 72, Mooresville, died September 1, 2015, in Hendricks Regional Health, Danville. Mr. Johnson was born April 22, 1943, in Indianapolis, to the late Alva Leroy Johnson and Catherine Marie (Cissell) Sachs.
Donnie graduated from Mooresville High School in 1961. He worked for Wilcher Ford as a mechanic for 17 years and also for World Wide Motors in Indianapolis for 17 years. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Gregg Township Fire Department for 15 years. Donnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and especially following his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. In addition to Mooresville, Donnie resided in Monrovia for many years, spent time during his retirement in Largo, Florida, and most recently had been a resident of Greencastle. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Linda Sue (Casey) Johnson; sister, Kathy Newcomb.
Survivors include his son, Alan Johnson (Debbie Ramey) of Greencastle; siblings, Lawrence R. Johnson of Florida, John Sachs of Michigan, David Sachs of Tennessee, Roy Sachs of California, James Sachs of Mooresville, Gaidene Cooper of Mooresville, Mary Painter of Mooresville, Brenda Bradley of Mooresville and Deborah Kennedy of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Patrick Johnson and Cody Johnson.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, September 4, 2015, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
