Donald L. McKinney, Sr., 82, Indianapolis, died November 14, 2013, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was a graduate of Decatur Central High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. McKinney worked for many years in advertising sales for the Indianapolis Star/News. Prior to, he was employed the Indianapolis Times. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could often be found on the sidelines of various sporting events, cheering on one of his seven grandchildren. As his own sons were growing up, he was active in the Decatur Little League and coached baseball and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lloyd, Melvin, Joyce, Nita, and Marcille.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Fancher) McKinney; sons, Donald L. McKinney, Jr. (Katrina) of Avon and John McKinney (Gretchen) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Cameron, Kiersten, and Keegan McKinney; Dylan, Gracie, Maggie, and Sheldon McKinney.
Rev. Jeff Faull will officiate the 7 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, November 21, 2013, in the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 p.m. Cremation will follow in the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
