Donald P. Hammons, 70, Mooresville, died suddenly January 21, 2015, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Hammons was born April 1, 1944, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late William and Grace Hammons.
Don graduated from Sullivan High School in 1962. He worked for many years at Rolls Royce as a machinist. Don was a member of Five Points Baptist Church. He enjoyed sprint car racing and loved the outdoors- hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He also loved animals, especially his loyal Springer Spaniel, Casey. Don’s memory will be cherished by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Sue (Jenkins) Hammons, to whom he was united in marriage May 26, 1963; daughter, Anita Davis (Randy Pope) of Plainfield; sister, Rajamah Drake of Terre Haute; granddaughter, Sara Davis; nieces, Angela Blevins (Israel) and Andrea Stafford (Victor).
Friends and family will gather on Friday, January 23, 2015, 5 to 8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will be officiated by his longtime friend, Pastor Bill Gott, beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
