Donald R. Vermillion, Sr., 78 of Indianapolis, passed away January 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1938 in Indianapolis to the late Nat and Emerine (Rogers) Vermillion.
Donald enjoyed working with his hands, building, and designing. He was the owner and operator of Vermillion Gravel and Excavating, Inc. for 35 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany from 1962 until 1964.
His wife, Patricia E. (Aikman) Vermillion preceded him in death. Donald was the only surviving child of Nat and Emerine; his 12 brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his son, Donald R. Vermillion, Jr. of Indianapolis; daughter, Lisa R. Willingham of Martinsville; and two grandchildren, Cole and Drew Willingham.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Donald R. Vermillion, Sr. on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
