Doris JoAnn Nelson

Doris JoAnn Nelson, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away February 28, 2020. She was born February 22, 1932, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Ivy (Fry) Martin.

Doris regularly attended Mt. Gilead Christian Church with her family. She drove a school bus for 20 years for Perry Township Schools. Doris enjoyed going to Florida and spending time with her friends down there. She loved to spend time with her family especially the grandchildren. Doris is going to be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Russell Nelson.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Dawn) Nelson of Mooresville, and Sheila (Rob) Sims of Texas; a brother, James (Marie) Martin of Indianapolis; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.


Services are being held privately on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, for immediate family only. A private burial will be at New South Park, Martinsville, Indiana.
