Doris Joyce Stephen

Doris Joyce Stephen, 94, lifelong resident of Mooresville, passed away March 14, 2020. She was born December, 24, 1925, in Norwich, England, to the late Reginold and Elsie (Gorrod) Brooks.


Doris attended Eternal Life Baptist Church and was a long time member of United Methodist Church. She was very patriotic and was proud to be a dual citizen in the United States of America and England. Doris was a member of the V.F.W. Axillary and also a representative for the Children’s Home. During the 60’s Doris learned square dancing and made it to the finals in Cheyanne, Wyoming. Doris enjoyed to garden, read especially history books, and travel. She is going to be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stephen; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Wooten; siblings, and Morris Brooks, Cyril Brooks, and Irene Brooks.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Marie Gastineau of Greencastle and Stephanie Ann (Colvin) Mann of Lafayette; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
