Doris (Monroe) McNeeley, 97, of Camby, died October 9, 2012, in Meadow Lakes, Mooresville. She was born January 20, 1915, in Lexington, Indiana, to the late Edward and Margaret Monroe.
Doris retired from Western Electric, where she worked a factory press for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Lexington Christian Church and donated to many animal welfare groups, various children’s organizations, and food banks. Above all, Mrs. McNeeley had a real love for all animals. She was an independent woman and caring individual who would do anything for anyone.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McNeeley; daughter, Dorla Fishel; brother, Forrest Monroe; sister, Pauline Parker.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Robert Fishel (Donna) of Mooresville, Jennifer Gilmour (Robert) of Ithaca, New York, Leanne Fishel of Waverly; great grandchildren, Ryan and Jeff Fishel, Benjamin and Ian Gilmour; great great grandchildren, Virginia and Caroline Fishel.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 11 a.m. Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate the services. Entombment will follow in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice to benefit children or animals.
