Doris Clarkston Norris, 75, Greenwood, died peacefully at home on September 23, 2012. Mrs. Norris was born January 19, 1937, in Mooresville, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Dorothy (Swinney) Clarkston.
She graduated from Washington High School. After many devoted years of raising children, Mrs. Norris worked for CBS Records in Terre Haute for a number of years and later for Quality Electric. More recently, she was employed at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. An accomplished musician, Mrs. Norris enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Powers.
Survivors include her husband, Luther “Red” Norris, to whom she was united in marriage December 28, 1956; children, Cynthia Kay Funk (Dennis) of Terre Haute, Kenneth Ross Norris (Gayla) of Sullivan, Illinois, Karen Reeves (Stacy) of Cumming, Georgia, and Terry Norris (Cherie) of Greenwood; sister, Linda Wray (Richard) of Bargersville; grandchildren, Dusty, Keith, Sarah, Justin, Trevor, Tyler, Jason, Jerra, and Jordan; six great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012, in Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Rd., Greenwood. Pastor Chris Philbeck will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
