Dorothy M. Nelson

Dorothy M. Nelson, 98, longtime Mooresville resident, passed away peacefully September 26, 2016. Mrs. Nelson was born May 28, 1918, in Johnson County, to the late Edgar Benjamin and Martha Elsie (Hague) Perry. Dorothy married the late Charles W. Nelson on January 18, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2009.

Dorothy graduated from Center Grove High School. She and Charlie owned and operated the Nelson & Son Hardware Store in Mooresville for more than fifty years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mooresville for more than 70 years. Additionally, Dorothy was 70+ year member of the Mooresville Order of the Eastern Star and the Pythian Sisters. Dorothy’s memory will be cherished by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Ralph and Earl Perry and Anna Dake.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Vidito; two grandchildren, Troy Haskett (Lavenia) of Indianapolis and Paula Streib (Danny) of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, T.J. Haskett, Michael Streib, Daniel Streib, and Emily Streib.

Friends and family will gather on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 5 to 8 p.m.,in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016, in the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service, and the inurnment will take place in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
