Dorothy May Gamble, 88, Mooresville, died January 22, 2015, in Meadow Lakes. Mrs. Gamble was born March 13, 1926, in Indianapolis, to the late Clare Wyant and Cordelia (Beckelhimer) Ware.
She graduated from Decatur Central High School and was a proud homemaker. Mrs. Gamble previously was a member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church and had also been a longtime member of Grace Missionary Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She was an avid quilter and was a member of the Mooresville VFW Post 1111 Ladies’ Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Leven Gamble; son, Donald E. Gamble; brothers, Paul E. and Donald E. Ware; sister, Martha H. Chenowith.
Survivors include one son, Max G. Gamble of Mooresville; daughter, Clara A. Gamble of Mooresville; daughter-in-law, Virginia Gamble; one grandson, Ryan C. Gamble.
Friends and family will gather on Monday, January 26, 2014, 4 to 8 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2014, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mooresville Cemetery.
