Dorothy Melton, 84, Monrovia, formerly of Greenwood, passed away April 26, 2013, in St. Francis South Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 26, 1928, in Indianapolis, to the late Donald Robert and Denzel Pauline (Overbay) Millikan.
Dorothy was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church and the Monrovia Christian Church. She worked for many years at Sears in Greenwood. Mrs. Melton was a kindhearted and fun-loving Christian. She was the caretaker of the family. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Paul Melton, Jr., to whom she was united in marriage on December 21, 1947; sisters, Jeannie Hopkins and Betty Swails; grandson, Jeff Risner.
Survivors include her daughter, Penni Risner (Jerry) of Monrovia; son, Bob Melton (Debby) of Butler, Kentucky; nephew, Don Hopkins (Darla) of Greencastle; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Richard Dickison will officiate the services. Memorial contributions may be made to summer camp funds at the Greenwood and Monrovia Christian Church.
