Eddie D. Davenport, 78, lifelong Morgan County resident, died peacefully at home October 13, 2012. Mr. Davenport was born November 1, 1933, to the late Frank and Mary Davenport.
He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1953. Mr. Davenport was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Mooresville. He worked for 18 years for Bridgeport Brass and retired after 11 years of employment as a stationary engineer with General Motors. An accomplished musician, Mr. Davenport played in the band, Ole Country Sounds for a number of years. He also enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching and gardening. A loyal and dedicated family man, he was a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Davenport.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Rooker) Davenport, to whom he was united in marriage June 20, 1954; son, Randal Davenport (Marla); daughter, Tammy Vreeland (Paul); sister, Merle Ozment brother, James Davenport; sister-in-law, Kathi Ayres (Gordon); six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
The memorial service will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, with calling there from 2 p.m. Burial will be private in the Brooklyn Cemetery.
