Edith M. Stanley Swinney, 87, of Mooresville, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mrs. Swinney was born November 12, 1927, in Plainfield, to the late Horton and Iva (Dailey) Stanley.
Edith graduated from Plainfield High School and worked for a brief period of time for L.S. Ayers. She was also employed at the Plainfield High School in the cafeteria. Mrs. Swinney was a devoted member of Plainfield Christian Church, where she was an active part of the Sunday School ministry. Above all, she was a loving wife; mother, sister, and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She will be fondly remembered by her loving relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Verlin Swinney; brother, Donald Stanley; sisters, Betty Johnson and Anna Turner; and Great Grandson Preston Tichenor.
Survivors include her son, Daryl L. Swinney (Becky) of Martinsville; daughters, Carol Clark (Jerrell) of Martinsville and Marcie Dove (Mike) of Plainfield; brothers, Robert and Harold Wayne Stanley, both of Plainfield; sisters, Alice Earles of Mooresville and Martha Kellems of Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call there prior to the service from 11 a.m. Pastor Steve White will officiate and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.
