Edward “Junior” Soots, 87, lifetime Mooresville resident, passed away February 6, 2013. He was born on August 25, 1925, in Mooresville, to the late Eddie Lee and Dorothy (Oliver) Soots.
Junior proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps., during WWII. He worked as a brick mason around town, helping with many local buildings, including the Mooresville VFW Post 1111, to where he held a lifetime membership. He was a farmer and small engines and appliance repairman. Junior could fix anything and he truly enjoyed being the jack-of-all-trades. A very gifted man, he passed down his knowledge and instilled his values to everyone that had the privilege of knowing him. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one child, Carolyn Bowers; siblings, Louise Ooley and Charles Soots.
Survivors include his loving wife, Helen (Sloan) Soots, to whom he shared nearly 50 years of his life; children, Jim, Jeff, and Suzanne; brother, Russell Eugene Soots of Mooresville; sisters, Dorothy Skaggs and Debbie Stapleton of Mooresville; grandchildren, Teresa Meyer, David LaVullis, Tonya Willis, Damon Bowers all of Mooresville; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 3 to 7 p.m., on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
