Eleanor J. Froh, 98, of Zionsville, Indiana, went to her eternal home on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born on February 27, 1925, in Douglas, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Warren and Emma (Fitzgerald) Johnson.
She graduated from Douglas Memorial High School in 1942 and attended Worcester State Teachers’ College. On July 21, 1946, she married Donald E. Froh. They were married for 72 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Donald E. Froh, son, Donald A. Froh, and grandson Daniel Froh.
She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Phillip) Giggie of Zionsville; daughter-in-law, Ruth Froh (Jonathan) Fengler; grandchildren, Katherine (Kyle) Van Leuven, Scott Giggie, Elijah, Elizabeth, and Samuel (Anna) Froh, Jonathan, and Adam Fengler; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time member of several Baptist churches in Massachusetts and New York, where she served in a variety of capacities including deaconess, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, VBS teacher, ladies’ Bible study leader, and served on multiple committees.
She was an avid reader and a lifelong student of the Bible. She liked crossword puzzles, baking, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, her beloved Boston Red Sox, and spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed visiting with people, dining out, and weekly trips to the hair salon. Eleanor will be greatly missed by all who know her.
A family viewing will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., Friday.
