Elizabeth Jane Newman

July 16, 1925 — February 27, 2017

Elizabeth Jane (Johnson) Newman, 91, Mooresville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 27, 2017, in Meadow Lakes Assisted Living, where she had been a resident recently. Jane was born July 16, 1925, in Hall, Indiana, to the late Harry N. and Dorris L. (Marsh) Johnson. She married Jim Newman on April 18, 1953, and they were married 49 years prior to his death.

Jane graduated from Monrovia High School and attended Indiana University. She worked at Eli Lilly & Co. for 35 years. She was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church. Jane was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, traveling, and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Newman; a sister, Lou Potter; and brother-in-law, Hank Potter.

She leaves behind her brother, Max Johnson; a niece, Jane Ann McVey; great nephew, Todd Storm; great niece, Tosha Matthews; five great great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special acknowledgment and sincere appreciation to Dr. Eric Wymer for his care and to the staff at Meadow Lakes for their kindness.

According to Jane's wishes, visitation will not be observed. Following a private family service, she will be buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, is in charge of arrangements.
